句型解析：
1.表达说话者某种感情或感受且that从句用虚拟语气的句型
句型“It is a pity(shame/surprise...)that...”表达的是说话者某种感情或感受，比如：惊奇、懊悔、失望、不满等。从句的情况发生在主句情况之前。that后的从句一般用虚拟语气，即：should + 原形动词。should通常不能省略，用“居然、竟然”的意味。该句型从句中的动词有两种形式：should do或should have done。should do表示现在或将来发生的事，should have done表示过去发生的事情。
例句：
It is a pity that our team should lose the game.

2.不表示惊奇等情感且that从句用陈述语气的句型
如果该句型不表示惊奇等感情，that从句也可以用陈述语气。
